Xeomin

Scarborough, ME

Xeomin corrects dynamic wrinkles, smoothing the skin for a more inviting, radiant countenance. Xeomin is formulated just like BOTOX, but without the extra proteins that present an allergic reaction for some clients.

Dynamic wrinkles form due to repetitive contractions that happen in the tiny facial muscles when we squint, frown, smile, or laugh. These dynamic lines are difficult to smooth using over-the-counter skin care products, but with Xeomin injections, they quickly fade into obscurity. Xeomin helps to improve facial expressions so that you appear relaxed, happy, and youthful.

Xeomin is made with botulinum toxin A, the same ingredient as is found in BOTOX. It works to temporarily block the nerve impulses that trigger facial contractions leading to lines and wrinkles. The result is smoother skin, free from entrenched creases. A typical treatment consists of 6-25 injections strategically placed in areas that need to be refreshed and rejuvenated.

Xeomin FAQ

  • What are Xeomin treatments like?

These treatments are quick, simple, safe, and with minimal pain — most patients call them a slight crunch sensation. Using a tiny micro-needle, we inject a small amount of botulinum very precisely into several locations. With a Xeomin treatment, no sedation or local anesthetic is required, and you can resume most non-strenuous activities immediately.

  • How does Xeomin work?

A small number of tiny intramuscular injections block the body’s natural chemicals (neurotransmitters) that stimulate the muscles to contract and create the appearance of lines due to overactive facial muscles. They take several days to relax the muscles and the effects of treatment typically last three to four months. Even though these muscles have been treated and are relaxed, they can still contract in a normal fashion, allowing normal facial expression to be unaffected.

  • What should I expect from injections?

After checking your medical history to establish that you are a good candidate for treatment, we can discuss and determine which areas of your face may benefit from neuromodulators. Most procedures take place in our office and last 15 to 30 minutes.

  • What does aftercare look like?

Immediately after the procedure, you should stay upright for three to four hours and avoid rubbing the injection sites to prevent the Xeomin from migrating to other muscles in the face. Little aftercare or downtime is required - you can even drive yourself home or back to the office.

  • When can I expect to see results and how long do they last?

Results normally appear within a few days of the injection, with a full effect at 10 to 14 days that generally lasts around three to four months.
